Ely Eel Festival

The Ely Eel Festival!

Not just Eels!

An annual feature of Ely, the Ely Eel festival is a great event that brings together the local community. Join Ely in celebrating its namesake and once staple diet: Eels!

Not only is there a parade on the 5th of May but other highlights such as the British Town Crier Championship and the World Eel Throwing Competition across the weekend! Furthermore, a food market will be present on the Palace Green, next to Ely’s famous cathedral on the 6th and 7th. Here you can sample the work of local culinary talents and even some celebrity guest chefs. Revellers can even sample jellied or smoked eels, should they feel brave enough!

Check out all that’s happening here.

Ely is a short drive away down the A10 or you can make use of Littleport train station, just a short walk away from the front door! Trains run every half hour to Ely.
